Brooklyn 99 reviews- Season 5 and Season 6

S5 1 The Big House part 1 – Despite being a very painful and heart-breaking start to the season in many ways, this ep still managed to be very touching and funny. Boyle’s dream at the start about Jake coming back was a great way to showcase his love for him and it was so so beautiful that the thought of Amy visiting him in prison made Jake so happy that nothing could get him down no matter how hard things were. ☹<3 <3 The scene with Amy and Boyle visiting him was so sweet and funny, with Boyle wanting all the ‘touching time’. Meanwhile, Holt and Terry were visiting Rosa, which led to some great moments when Terry flexed his eyes to keep from crying and Holt kept repeating her name. All the scenes with them doing the list of jobs for her were so funny too, as Holt’s ‘yaas queen’ line is one of my all time faves and the scene when they’re trying to cancel her cable always cracks me up. Both Jake and Rosa are miserable in prison though and the only friend Jake’s made since he’s been there is Caleb, who’s a cannibal (or woodworker.) The scene when the guard kept beating Jake up was hard to watch and very sad ☹ but led to some pretty dark humour overall. I love Jake for talking about how hard prison is for trans people and the look on his face whenever he saw or spoke to Amy was so beautiful and their final phone conversation (and the whole scene) warms and breaks my heart at the same time, as the fact that he risked his life for the chance to talk to Amy and said that he’s ok because he’s talking to her is possibly the purest and most romantic portrayal of true love ever, they would do anything for each other.(I also love that he brought photos of her and that one of them is the one he took to Florida.) I was a bit surprised that he had facial hair after saying in S3 that he couldn’t grow it but maybe he just doesn’t like having facial hair or doesn’t get a full beard/moustache or it’s a bit patchy and takes ages to grow. 9/10

2 The Big House part 2 – Unfortunately, Jake and Rosa are still in prison but the 99 are doing everything they can to try and get them out. Holt advises Amy not to get a tip from Seamus, a known criminal, but she considers doing it as she just wants Jake to be free. <3 The fact that Amy was willing to risk her career to help Jake (who was risking his life to keep talking to her) shows the full extent of their true love and commitment to each other and the fact that Holt did end up going to Seamus for the info, therefore risking his career, shows how much he cares for the squad and would do anything for them. Poor Jake’s struggling a bit, as ‘The Lion King’ and mashed potatoes scenes demonstrated (it’s cute that he was always thinking about Amy, I love that. <3) He even got involved in a drug case in the prison, demonstrating his great detective skills, even when he’s being unknowingly affected by the substances and the part where he couldn’t say ‘all’ kinda gave me ‘The Good Place’ vibes. Boyle was so funny about his podcast and calling Jake a god (I also wonder if the podcast was sponsored by funframes because J and R were framed.) It was so satisfying to watch Melanie Hawkins and her squad get arrested after all she’s put Jake and Rosa through, as was the scene when Rosa imagined fighting her, proving that she’s always a badass. Watching the 99 welcoming Jake and Rosa back as Jake and Amy lovingly reunited and shared a kiss was so beautiful too. <3 <3   9.5/10

3 Kicks – The cold open was fun this time, with Jake preparing a feast for everyone with the foods he’d been missing in prison. Pimento was back from Argentina in this ep too but Rosa suspects he’s not been faithful and goes to extreme measures to try and find out if he’s cheating or not. It was cool to hear more about Terry’s back story and ex-girlfriend in Japan and how that convinced Rosa to follow Pimento. Amy’s confusion about the flan was funny too. It turns out that Pimento has quite a sweet explanation for what was going on as he was actually learning Spanish for her. Although he didn’t do anything wrong (well, the blood thing was a bit strange), Rosa decides it’s not working out and ends things. Meanwhile, Jake wants to be back out on a case but Holt evaluates him to see if he’s ready to be back or not (all the evaluating squat and high five jokes were brilliant too.) Boyle was hilarious too, as I love his undying loyalty and love for Jake and the ‘lillian wayne’ line is so good. Holt’s initially angry when Jake lets a suspect go before Jake reveals that it’s harder for him to arrest people now as he doesn’t want to think about anyone who could be innocent going to jail and even if it was only for one ep, I love the show for demonstrating how prison changed his outlook and made him be extra considerate, thoughtful and cautious when thinking about arresting someone. It was also so awesome that it was presented as a good thing and the respect that Holt and Jake have for each other is so admirable and nice to see. Boyle wanting to defend Jake and tell him the good news and hug them was brill too, as well as being a nice callback to the nine minute hug in s2. 8.75/10

4 HalloVeen – It’s heist time again and it’s time for the best heist ever by a long shot. It was nice that even though she didn’t appear in the ep, Gina was still involved in the heist as the reigning champ and a new mother and when she congratulated the happy couple at the end… It starts off with Holt, Amy and Jake all wanting to win again and Rosa, Terry and Boyle teaming up to get a win themselves. All the scenes with Holt and Cheddar were amazing and hysterical too and every line was gold, including ‘you’re not Cheddar’ and ‘you betrayed me, you’ll explain yourself later’. Bill’s back in this ep too and it becomes clear early on that this is a special heist for Jake and when you find out why, it’s better than anyone could have imagined and cute enough to warm the coldest hearts. After spending the ep telling Jake that he couldn’t surprise her, Amy seems to have won the whole thing when it’s just the two of them in the evidence room. However, when she goes to get the prize, he tells her to read the belt/cummerbund as he’s planned the best and most romantic surprise ever-a proposal! Yes, Jake proposes and it’s hands down the best proposal that I’ve ever seen as it’s funny, adorable and romantic without being cheesy and it’s beautiful that he compliments her looks and intelligence (and butt) and calls her the best detective and his favourite person(which, with that, saying bless you when she sneezes in another room and agreeing that she’s the best human/genius proves once and for all that you couldn’t find a kinder or more loving and supportive partner than Jake as even though they joke around together, he’s definitely the most respectful TV boyfriend(fiancée😊) ever and the phone call to Amy’s Dad only proves this point further.) While I feel bad for Jake (especially now that I've watched the whole series right to the end) when she starts threatening to leave him if he was only pretending to propose, the pure love and joy in their eyes during the proposal and when she said yes and showed Boyle the ring was incredible(Boyle was the biggest mood by literally fainting with happiness.)The squad then celebrate ‘America’s dream couple’ getting engaged and after discovering that even though everyone thinks they gave Jake the idea to propose(with Boyle shipping them since the day they met and Terry’s on brand yogurt metaphor), he actually decided to ask her months ago, when she found a typo in a crossword, which seems like a small, forgettable moment but shows that he could not love her more and that everything she does and every moment they spend together reminds him of how much he loves everything about her. <3 <3  10/10(more like 1000/10)

5 Bad Beat – This ep has such a sweet cold open with Jake asking Boyle to be his ‘BM’(Best Man) in the perfect way that he knew Boyle would love. This ep also dealt with Holt’s gambling addiction in more detail after referencing it in S2, as Jake and Terry are involved in a poker case. The scenes with Holt betting on the beauty pageant and playing poker with Jake and Terry and talking about their ‘tells’ were all so good and I liked how it balanced the funny and the more serious parts with Holt reflecting on his past and it was clever how Holt’s tell was revealed. Meanwhile, Rosa had quite a fun plot with Hitchcock and Scully as the three of them tried to spend as long sitting down as possible.IT seemed like quite a silly, funny plot but it was also fun to see them bonding and having fun wheeling around together and it was cool that Rosa developed a new found respect for H and S while still trying to take care of herself. The Boyle and Amy plot was good too, as Amy’s investing in Boyle’s new food truck and becomes a bit concerned about the ‘crime scene’ angle and it was interesting to see the juxtaposition of the gory ideas for the food truck with the upbeat musical choices on Boyle’s computer. It was nice to see Amy and Boyle supporting each other and getting excited together too. 8.75/10

6 The Venue – This is one of my all-time favourite eps, it’s so beautiful and adorable. The parts with Rosa and Jake doing the doughnut holes were so fun and I liked how it showed the depth and closeness of their friendship and total ease with each other. Jake and Amy are planning their wedding or their toit nups in this ep and their nups will definitely be the toitest nups of all. It’s so wonderful to see how well they know each other and how much they want to make the other happy as they’re so in sync when planning their wedding and get surprises for the other that they know they’ll love, eg Jake getting the flowers wrapped in crossword puzzles (an adorable callback to the night he decided to propose) and Amy getting a ‘Die Hard’ wedding cake that he was adorably excited about. Unfortunately, seeing as The Vulture’s still the worst, he tries to ruin it for them by booking the venue Peraltiago (as first coined in this ep) had already booked. Jake and Amy go to meet his fiancée, Jean, who turns out to be a super selfless, charitable woman, who sadly doesn’t know that her fiancée is a terrible, cheating, sexist golddigger. After finding out about the Vulture’s affairs, Peraltiago meet up with the Vulture to try to get their venue back and get Jean out of a bad relationship but decide not to say anything about the affairs when Jean shows up. However, after Jake makes the most beautiful, heartfelt, adorable speech about his romantic epiphany and love for Amy and Jean compares her relationship with the Vulture to their beautiful relationship, Peraltiago tell her the truth about her fiancée, to stop her from marrying a liar. It was so admirable that they respected Jean enough to be honest as they knew she deserved so much better, even if their decency led to them losing their dream venue. However, the pure love in their eyes when they described their new venue was proof that they don’t need anything but each other and that being together is the most important thing for them, proving how strong their relationship is. Terry and Holt had some great scenes too, with Terry’s habit of talking to himself in the third person causing a problem. It was hilarious when Holt called him ‘unhinged’ when he bought from every food truck(maybe even Boyle’s?..) and said it was childlike to go by a nickname ending in y(even though he’s called Ray) All their scenes were gold and it was sweet that while Terry learned that it’s ok if not everyone likes him, he still loved it when Holt said he liked him. Rosa and Boyle had good scenes together too, as Sgt Peanut Butter (Boyle’s nemesis) is back. Boyle was hilarious when describing him and it was a cool direction to go in that Boyle saved his life but it was reported that he was saved by the horse(who also got to go on ‘Ellen’.) Despite seeming to side more with Peanut butter to begin with, it was nice that Rosa made sure Boyle got recognition for what he did by throwing a party in his honour. 10/10

7 Two Turkeys – It’s turkey day at the 99 and it was nice to get a callback to S3 with Boyle’s ‘Tommy gobbler’ turkey costume. Peraltiago’s parents are meeting for thanksgiving dinner and it was a nice, refreshing twist that everyone’s totally happy and on board with Jake and Amy’s engagement and to subvert the trope of disapproving parents even further, they end up drunkenly competing to see who’s the most supportive and who’ll pay for the wedding. Jake’s parents meant well but were a bit insensitive and Amy’s mother, Camila, came off as quite rude and condescending by bringing her own turkey to the dinner and, along with her husband, looking down on the Peraltas. Even if they  briefly disagreed(the line about comparing Karen to a tree was hilarious), Peraltiago always supported each other and were on the same team as the scenes with them deciding what to do if their parents didn’t get along were all great and it was sweet and wholesome when Amy’s Dad said that they were all one big family, as Jake has always wanted and deserved a big, loving, happy family. Meanwhile, (with help from H and S) Holt’s trying to solve the mystery of what happened to the pie he and Kevin were taking to dinner with Kevin’s parents (I thought there was a reference to Kevin’s Dad passing away in the S2 heist but I suppose it could be his step-parent or they may invite some other relatives.) The scene when Kevin revealed he threw the pie away was unexpected but really clever and hilarious and it was sweet when he said he didn’t like the pie but liked spending time together on their trip to get it. <3 Rosa, Boyle and Terry had some great scenes with Holt too as their original thanksgiving plans made sense for their characters but I absolutely love the scene when it’s revealed that they all had secret plans that they were embarrassed to share, as watching the transition from the sweet moment of Rosa talking about seeing her family to Terry getting a bit emotional when talking about his youngest child to Boyle in full blown tears because his son is a picky eater is so so brilliant, it’s a masterpiece of a scene.(the pie interrogation scene is so brilliant too.) 10/10

8 Return to Skyfire – This ep featured the return of Terry's favourite writer, Parlov as even though Parlov's a jerk, Jake and Terry both really like his books now. It was so nice to see how they'd bonded over the books and watching them chanting and singing together was so good. It was cool how they got some important points across in this ep too, by talking about how it was so wrong for the diversity panel to be primarily made up of white guys. I also liked how Rosa became a fan of fantasy novels too and that Jake was so excited about it and it was funny when Terry and Jake were unsure about how to talk to the kid who asked if his parents were splitting up and said he looked like Parlov. Meanwhile, Holt and Amy were getting super excited about Dr Yee coming in for a talk as they idolise him, which was so good to watch and the line about Barbra Streisand and rock stars was so funny.Boyle was pretty funny about wanting to tell his family stories, even if you felt bad for him. I also thought it was nice that he genuinely wanted to help Amy and Holt get their certification and that he got to tell his stories at the end. 9/10

9. 99 – This is such an incredible ep! It’s also the 99th episode of the show, which is a big deal here at the 99. After the death of their old captain, it turns out that Holt’s up for commissioner and Jake and the squad could not be more supportive and excited for him. They do everything they can to get him to his interview, even after everything goes wrong after they stop at Nakatomi Plaza (Jake’s favourite place in the world). All the scenes with Jake wanting to take millions of photos were so brill. Sadly, everything continues to go wrong and they end up trying to return to NY in an RV called the American creeper (I love Rosa’s line about it creeping to hell.) It was so touching and inspiring that Jake refused to let Holt give up on his dreams (I love that he never lets his loved ones give up on themselves or what they want and deserve.) Late on in the ep, there was a clever twist as it turns out everything going wrong wasn’t accidental or bad luck as Holt purposefully sabotaged the trip to stop them from getting to the interview as he was worried about the favour he owed to Seamus for getting Jake and Rosa out of jail. Even though the 99 weren’t initially happy to learn that they could have got back to NY without any problems or fires or cow orgies, it was so sweet that Jake was so moved by what Holt did (and what Amy was willing to do) for them and the way they announced that they were a team and would face it together proves once and for all that they are an incredibly wholesome, supportive found family. I loved that despite trying to be chill in this ep, Amy used her uptight, organised nature to figure out a way to get them back for the interview. It was so wonderful that Jake never wanted her to change and loves and supports her for who she is and it was beautiful to see him looking at her with so much love and pride in his eyes. <3 It was so sweet that Jake got Terry a mimosa at the end too, as Terry had wanted to be in first class for the whole ep. It was so kind of Jake to go out all to make his friend so happy and not look for anything in return, he has just the biggest heart. I also liked the Rosa and Boyle plot too, as it makes sense for Rosa to be secretive about her dating life and for Boyle to be nosey and it’s through his constant questioning about her dating life that he finds out that she’s bisexual and dating a woman. Rosa talking about her bisexuality was done in an honest, respectful way which felt true to her character and it was nice that Boyle was immediately supportive and apologised for being nosey while continuing to ask her questions. 10/10(100/10)

10 Game Night – This ep centred around Rosa coming out as bi and was handled so well. The scene when she told everyone that she was bisexual was funny, respectful, sweet and felt right for her character. The squad were extremely supportive and I liked the Rosa and Boyle moment and Holt saying that ‘woke’ is grammatically incoherent. It was so touching to see how supportive Jake was and how he stood by her 100% and even went to dinner with Rosa and her parents and pretended to be her boyfriend (his rendition of the Rosa song is never not iconic) when she said she wasn’t ready to tell them. Jake is a great role model for all men and cishet people and was a beautiful example of an ally here, as he didn’t pressure Rosa to tell her family and he never once made her uncomfortable and was just so supportive and kind but didn’t treat her any differently after she came out. There was also a cute moment when Amy rang him and a sweet photo of them appeared on his phone, which led to Rosa’s parents finding out that she’s not dating Jake and that she’s bi. It’s pretty heart-breaking(especially because she was getting closer with her family since getting out of jail) that Rosa initially thinks her parents are going to be accepting when they invite her and Jake to game night but they turn out to be very biphobic and unsupportive.☹ Luckily, Rosa has a supportive, loving family who’ll always be there for her, in the form of the 99, as Jake continued to be his amazing, selfless, supportive self and stood by Rosa when her parents didn’t (her Dad became a bit more accepting by the end), as Jake even got the squad to come together to have a family game night with Rosa, as family is exactly what they are. I loved the little hint at Dianetti when Gina said they would’ve made a good couple and Holt’s speech is so heartwarming and perfect. The whole last scene is possibly the loveliest, kindest display of genuine support and friendship that I’ve ever seen on TV. As mentioned with the Dianetti line, Gina Linetti is back baby (this time she has a baby of her own too)! All the scenes with her talking about how her baby can’t read and Holt saying that babies are small make me laugh so hard. It was sweet that Gina wants her daughter to be proud of her and it was nice that Amy and Boyle reminded her how important she was to the 99. All the scenes with Gina were pretty great, tbh. 10/10

11 The Favor – In this ep, the plot with Seamus Murphy came up again, which is a bit worrying for Holt, even if the scenes with Holt and Seamus at the diner and Jake talking about the pancakes at the diner were pretty funny. Jake and Charles try to talk to Kyle, who’s in the Murphy family but feels excluded from the family. The Diane Keaton and ’Godfather’ references were really good too and I loved that Holt thought that Kyle rapping to himself in the car was professional music on the radio, it was hilarious. It was also so sweet that Jake wanted to help Kyle and shows how decent he is and how deep his bond is with Holt and how much Holt’s opinion means to him. <3 Meanwhile, the scene with Gina and Terry was so nice as it was sweet that they bonded over being working parents and it was cute to see Gina being a caring, devoted parent and it was interesting to see her talking about trying to balance her home life and work life. The Rosa and Amy plot was cool too, as it was brill to watch Amy in her element with the forms and I loved how Rosa supported her even if she didn’t share Amy’s passion for the permits and forms and the parallels with their different ideas of what a kickass assignment involves was pretty cool and demonstrated that they can both be tough and support each other despite being so different. The lines about hoarding and cat sex made me laugh too and the photo of Jake and Amy (a real pic of Mel and Andy <3) on Amy’s desk was super cute. <3  8.75/10

12 Safe House – This ep is literally so amazing, omg! It turns out that Holt’s husband Kevin is in danger and so the squad sets up a safe house where he can stay with Jake to keep him out of harm’s way. While there were so many super funny moments in the house with Jake trying to get Kevin to watch Nick Cage movies and Holt and Kevin sliding on the floor to avoid being seen, there were some pretty serious moments too, as while Holt’s ideas for keeping Kevin and Jake in lockdown seem quite extreme and limiting for them, he’s only doing it because of how much he loves Kevin and can’t stand the thought of anything happening to the love of his life. <3 The scenes with Kevin, Jake and Holt are all amazing but it was so sad when Kevin talked about considering ending their marriage if the restrictions continued for much longer. ☹ However, we know that a couple as strong and solid as Rayvin would always be more than fine and they were, especially as their idea of a vicious fight is not exactly a relationship-ending one. I appreciated that instead of Jake feeling that it was hopeless and wanting to give up on them or his own relationship after seeing so many divorces, he vowed to do all he could to try and help Kevin feel better and to try and stop them from splitting up while still trying to keep Kevin safe. It was so sweet that Jake loves his two Dads (Holt and Kevin) so much and tried to do all he could to be there for them both and make things easier. It was also nice to see that Kevin cares so much for Holt and would never leave him, which was shown when Holt was in danger. It was nice to see Scully helping the squad and demonstrating his skills by helping Amy and Terry put the documents back together and all the scenes with Rosa getting different hair styles at the salon, including a blonde perm, crack me up and it was cool to see Gina’s gossip surgeon/storytelling skills in action. 10/10

13 The Negotiation – Doug Judy’s back this time 😊 He appear to have given up a life of crime (even if he is still involved in a hostage situation which Jake and Rosa are trying to deal with. It was awesome to hear Doug Judy’s Rosa song again and while he has been pretty forward and inappropriate with his advances on her in the past, it was nice to see his decent side shining through this time as he said he accepted that she was with someone and didn’t hit on her again. Jake and Doug Judy are officially best friends by this point and it was nice to see how they’ve bonded when talking about Peraltiago’s upcoming wedding. DJ and Jake are both incredible characters on their own and as a duo as they have a great dynamic and the karaoke scenes and high fives and handshakes were fantastic. Even if Doug did leave Jake behind again, it was cool to learn that he cares for him, by referring to him as his best friend and leaving a wedding gift and the diamonds to stop Jake’s career taking a hit. Meanwhile, Terry and Holt were trying to coach Hitchcock about how to present himself in an appropriate, respectful way and he surprisingly did well, although it wasn’t too surprising that he didn’t want to keep it up. Holt and Terry were so funny in this plot too, by wondering what Hitchcock would do and pretending to be talking and saying ‘crime crime, precinct precinct’ etc. Gina and Amy were helping Boyle with his meatball food truck (it’s nice to see that Amy’s still supporting Boyle’s food truck.) Unfortunately, Boyle became very rude and angry for no reason (a bit of a jerk move when they were doing him a favour.) However, it led to some hilarious moments with Boyle asking to be called chef and saying to Amy ‘Do I look like Jake to you? Why are you trying to screw me?' Obviously, this isn’t like Boyle at all and it was good that it ended with him acknowledging his very ooc behaviour, apologising and saying he was like his mean nana Boyle. 9.5/10

14 .The Box  - One of the most famous eps of B99 and it never disappoints. While Jake may love his job, I really love this show and character. Unlike the majority of eps, there’s only really one plot line and while they’re not the only main characters who appear in the ep, Jake and Holt are the only leads who are in the ep the whole way through. Sterling K Brown guest stars as Philip, a dentist and murder suspect and gives such an amazing performance. There are plenty of serious moments in this ep but I love Holt’s speech about PhDs/doctorates, especially as he’s probably doing it to stick up for Kevin/defend his honour. <3 It was also so funny when Holt was spelling out his last name to his own husband even though they’re married and know each other so well (it was a nice reference to Holt telling Kevin it was him at the start of the Safe house ep). I also love the return of Jake playing the guitar and screaming (last seen in season 1) and the line about Jake being like a cereal mascot when angry and the part about his Addams Family wedding vows rap. I wonder if Jake’s notebook flip was a reference to the Det Dave Majors ep in S2 as well. It was a shame to see Jake doubting his intelligence and worrying that he has to prove himself to Holt but it was awesome that he used feeling underestimated to work out how to get Philip to confess and the ‘oh damns’ are always iconic. It also shouldn’t go unnoticed that Jake made a point of saying that addiction is a disease and that it isn’t the fault of the person when talking about Philip and I love Jake so much for that, as it shows how woke, decent and thoughtful he is. It was so nice to see Holt telling Jake he’s proud of him, especially as we know how much it means to him after being let down by practically every other male authority figure in the past. 9.25/10

15 The Puzzle Master – Such a brilliant ep! Amy passed her sergeant’s exam and is officially about to become a sergeant with her own squad (proud of her). It was awesome to see her birdlike victory dork dance and it was so cute that Jake knew she’d pass and looked at her with so much love and pride in his eyes when calling her his future wife. <3 <3 I also really loved that Jake wanted their last case before her promotion to be Amy’s dream/ideal case as it involved her fave crossword puzzle and crossword author, Melvin Stermley, who was played by David Fumero, the real life husband of Melissa Fumero (Amy).Hilariously, Melvin turned out to be a super handsome, supermodel as well as a puzzle maker and Jake gets a bit jealous when Amy and Vin hang out and bond over crosswords. I love the show for doing a jealousy plot in a healthy, respectful way as Jake calls jealousy an ‘ugly emotion’ and never tries to stop Amy and Vin from hanging out and isn’t ever possessive, which I love. Boyle was too funny about encouraging Jake’s jealousy though (even if Boyle ended up making the situation unnecessarily worse for a bit) and while Boyle was at fault in some ways, I always lose it when he, true to form, doesn’t want Jake to have any other male friends and tries to stop him from hanging out with Vin, it’s so funny. (it’s also a nice touch that both Jake and Vin are good, decent guys who respect Amy and each other rather than having them get into fights.) Peraltiago had some great moments too and I love the part when they’re waiting to go to the puzzle night and Amy’s happy to make Jake happy about the guy in crossword pants. The scene when Amy tells him that he's as smart as her is such an amazing scene too (it must mean so much to him after the last ep) and I love the mutual respect that they have for each other, as he thought she was smarter than him and wasn’t threatened by it but rather wanted her to be happy and fulfilled and she knows that she wouldn’t want to be with anyone else. <3 Gina had some great lines about finger foods and looking through Holt’s calendar and it was touching that even though Holt and Olivia aren’t close or even friends at all, they respect each other as rivals, as Holt didn’t want Olivia to unfairly miss out on opportunities because of discrimination as he knows what it feels like to be discriminated against. Rosa, Terry and H and S had a fun plot with trying to get the new detective car. Even if it seemed surprising that Terry would cheat to try and get it, the scene when Rosa reminded him of all the nice things he does and that he does truly deserve the car was pretty heartwarming and sweet. The reveal that H and S ride a vespa together and don’t know each other’s first names was funny and kinda surprising but still makes sense in a way. 9.75/10

16 Nutriboom -  Amy’s first ep as a sergeant and she truly looks dope and is sure to be a dope sergeant and leader. However, she faces a challenge when one of her officers, Gary, turns out to be a male version of her and keeps interrupting her with a million ideas and questions. At first, Rosa, Gina and Terry try giving her tips on how to deal with him and while I was worried that these normally very kind-hearted characters would use it as a way to poke fun at Amy, I thought Rosa’s line about Gary finding his Jake was pretty sweet and shows that Boyle isn’t the only Peraltiago shipper in the 99, which is lovely to see. Holt’s speech to Amy about how people like her can be an extremely helpful addition to a team was really nice too and it was cool that Ames took his speech to heart and listened to Gary, while getting respected as a leader. Meanwhile, Jake and Charles are trying to get money for Peraltiago’s honeymoon back from Nutriboom, the pyramid scheme in HalloVeen.(side note, I love that it was the potential threat to the honeymoon and not losing his own money that got Boyle on board and the fact that Jake got involved in Nutriboom to keep the secret and give Amy the perfect proposal in HalloVeen proves how much he loves Amy and would do anything for true love and for her <3.) Bill from the heist eps made an appearance too and all the ‘cult’ scenes at Nutriboom were pretty funny, with Boyle and Jake saying that Debbie was ‘real dead’, H and S going to a meeting and Boyle apologising to Angela, the ‘robot person’ as Jake called her. When it turns out that Debbie really is ‘happy, healthy and alive’ and in fact running Nutriboom, Jake’s faced with a difficult decision about whether to accept money for the honeymoon or not and I love that Jake’s decency and moral compass shines through again as he doesn’t accept the money. The last scene with Peraltiago was super adorable too and I loved it when Jake held Amy’s hand over his heart, it’s the most beautiful thing. The fact that Amy loves Jake partly for his goodness and decency is awesome too and if we’ve learned anything about this couple, it’s that they definitely don’t need an expensive honeymoon or a fancy wedding to be happy as their love is so powerful and pure that all they need is each other. <3  I also liked that Jake wanted to help the pigeon in the cold open, that was really sweet.  9.75/10

17 DFW – It’s time to meet Jake’s sister! Well, the one half-sibling who was dtm (down to meet). After the revelation in Two Turkeys that Roger (unsurprisingly) fathered several other children with different women, Jake and Amy are finally meeting Jake’s half-sister Kate. It’s nice to see Jake finally getting the big family that he’s always wanted and deserved, even if it doesn’t all go according to plan. When they first meet Kate, she’s been handcuffed on the plane for vaping and hitting a stewardess and doesn’t really seem to be clicking with her brother or sister-in-law (although it was interesting to see some similarities between the siblings as they both felt nervous and had concerns about meeting.) Amy talking about Kate sleeping with a ‘tin man’, Jake’s reaction to Kate not knowing about ‘Die hard’ and Amy reassuring him crack me up. Kate is newly single and decides to move out to NY, which Jake and Amy aren’t too thrilled about (side note-I love that despite not clicking with or being that close to Kate, Jake remained his usual compassionate, caring self by not wanting to hurt her feelings and being a caring, sweet brother to her in the last scene.) They decide to bring Kate’s ex, Kurt, out to NY, in the hopes that they’ll get back together and move back to Dallas. However, it turns out that their relationship is not as sweet as they made it seem and Kurt doesn’t actually care about Kate and hasn’t treated her well in the past(although it makes sense why Peraltiago wouldn’t know this and would think that they wanted to be together.) It was an interesting twist when Jake compared himself to his Dad at the end(especially because we know he’s nothing like his Dad and is super caring and devoted) and went to talk to Kate before she left, as he’d been saying that Kate was a lot more like Roger (Kurt was not too dissimilar to Roger either as he’d cheated on Kate). It was quite surprising to learn that Kate’s mother had recently passed away as Kate mentioned that her mother got upset whenever she was reminded of the ‘Owen Meany’ book but maybe she meant that when she was alive, she’d get upset about the book. It was nice that Jake’s ‘noice, toit’ plan with Kate ended up happening too. Meanwhile, Gina was helping set Rosa up with her friend. It was kinda cool to see a plot with these two, especially as so many people ship them. I kinda liked Gina’s line about knowing lots of great women for Rosa and her line about how ‘men are secretly monsters’, as while this isn’t the case with the 99 men, it is for a lot of guys, sadly. It was a cool twist as well that when it seemed like Gina’s set-up wouldn’t work, it’s because she knew Rosa wouldn’t want to date someone she’d been set up with and would get together with someone that she actually liked (in this case, Aubrey, the bartender that Gina actually wanted her to date.) The Holt, Boyle, Terry plot was pretty good too, as Holt’s ‘hooligan’ line was funny and it was interesting to see the super strong Terry struggle with yoga and get carried by Boyle (demonstrating his strength). 9.5/10

18 Gray star mutual – Pimento’s back! It was cool to see him again and it was nice to see that he does genuinely care about Boyle and Jake and wants to be friends with them which was confirmed by his reactions to the news and milestones that he’d missed, such as Dr Yee’s visit, Peraltiago’s engagement, Amy’s promotion and Holt's bid to become the commissioner. It was cool how the Lady GaGa concert reference came full circle at the end and I liked that the three guys became good friends by the end, with Adrian’s cathartic scream of love and Jake inviting him to the wedding. Meanwhile, Rosa and Amy were being all kinds of kickass and empowering women everywhere, as Amy didn’t want to be seen looking at wedding dresses as she was worried that it might make her officers lose respect for her. However, Rosa, being the awesome, supportive friend that she is, knew that it was important to Amy and took her wedding dress shopping but Amy still struggled to let her guard down until Rosa gave her an incredibly powerful, inspiring speech about how capable Amy is (I mean she literally took down a perp in a wedding dress in this ep so she can pretty much do anything) and how she shouldn’t worry about what others think or deny herself things that she wants and deserves. I love this plotline and speech sm and it’s such a brilliant message that you can apply to yourself or learn from regardless of your situation as I love the message that you can like ‘pretty’ things and be stereotypically ‘feminine’ in certain areas and still be strong, tough and a total badass as you’re a badass because of those more traditionally ‘feminine’ traits/interests not in spite of them. Gina and Terry are trying to get Holt to set up a twitter account, with hilarious results(Holt’s line about being a human male when twitter mistakes him for a robot always cracks me up.) I also love the scenes with Gina and Terry’s impression of the grouchy chinchilla they follow. The whole plot with them was really funny and I loved seeing Cheddar in the different outfits and it’s hilarious that when Holt doesn’t know how to respond about why Cheddar was in a beret, he says that Cheddar’s social media account was Kevin’s idea. 9.75/10

19  Bachelor/ette party – Such a brilliant ep! As the title suggests, it’s time for Jake’s bachelor party and Amy’s bachelorette party. I love the part when Boyle told Jake that he was already on fire as Boyle adoring Jake is a marvellous running joke. It was sweet that on learning Charles had been planning the party for ten years, Jake reminded him that he’d known Amy for eight years, as it’s so adorable that she’s the only one for him and the only person he’d want to marry. <3 Meanwhile, at Amy’s party(which is attended by Rosa, Gina, her friend Kylie from S4 and H and S in Empire style outfits), Ames worries that she’s not lived a very wild life and while playing ‘Never have I ever’, it’s revealed that she’s slept with the lead singer of the band that Jake hired to play at their wedding(it’s super cute that he booked them to make her happy as Kylie said that Amy liked them.) They head to Shaw’s to try and get Amy’s ex, Constantine (it turns out that the one night stand that Amy mentioned was actually a three month relationship), to pull out of the wedding but much like T*ddy, he is definitely not over Amy and plans to win her back. Nothing’s going to stand in the way of Peraltiago and true love, though and I love how supportive everyone is with trying to distract Constantine. Amy gets the contract from him, though and ends up setting it on fire and falling off the bar and has something to drink to that she’s definitely done for ‘Never have I ever’. Meanwhile, Boyle’s planned an elaborate scavenger hunt for the bachelor party but Jake, Terry and Holt (who’s so incredible in this ep as his kangol hat and the way he held his cutlery when drunk and talked about chocolate make me laugh so hard) get hungry and fed up and decide to get drinks and celebrate for a bit before catching up with Boyle later(I like that Jake always remembered him and didn’t want to leave him out.) Boyle then meets up with the guys for more meat and drinks (drunk Holt is priceless) and a slideshow about Jake. Boyle’s upset when he finds out that they didn’t do the scavenger hunt but it makes sense that it wouldn’t be so much Jake’s thing for that type of night (Amy might have liked it though) and the scene when he tells Boyle that he missed him and wanted to spend his bachelor party with him was really sweet and funny with Boyle implying that Jake’s always been his priority and Jake reacting to Reginald VelJohnson talking about Bruce Willis. The final scene with Jake and Amy at the bar was so sweet and adorable too. 10/10

20 Show me going – This was a much more serious and more melancholy ep but still an incredibly entertaining, brilliant episode. The cold open with Holt in the hat is such a classic and is so underrated.(I love that he was trying a different hat in the last ep and tried something new in this one too.) It starts off as a typical ep, with Amy trying to deal with tension between the 99 and her new uniformed officers and Jake and Boyle trying to get on a taskforce with someone Jake fell out with and accidentally blinded in one eye. However, everything changes when it’s revealed that Rosa’s in danger as she’s at an active shooter situation. It was so sweet that everyone was concerned as they care about her so much (I also love that when Amy said that Rosa was the toughest on the squad, everyone except for Hitchcock agreed. It was so awesome that no one was competitive and that the guys didn’t want to argue or claim to be as tough as Rosa or anything.) Jake plans to try and get to the situation to help Rosa but Holt tells him not to go (it was good to see the return of the horny Holt soundboard too.). Even if you understand where Holt’s coming from, I think it was admirable that Jake cared about her so much and wanted to make sure that she was ok, as he wasn’t doing to it to be a hero or live out some fantasy by saving her as it wasn’t that he thought she needed protection, it was that he doesn’t want anything to happen to one of his best friends. Gina and Amy had some good scenes too (I liked Gina’s song and the line about toilet porn), as it was nice that they wanted to have the toilet fixed for Rosa when she came back and it was an effective way to show how stressed and worried everyone was about her and how they dealt with it in different ways, as Boyle was so shaken up that he was even put off by a super sweet Peraltiago moment and got angry with his mother (one of his best friends) and Terry’s blood pressure was rising rapidly. In the end, Jake decided to take some food to everyone at the precinct and check in with them all to talk about how they were feeling, which was so wonderful and moving to see. It was lovely that he was so considerate and empathetic and genuinely listened to how they were feeling and even if it’s a sad scene in some ways, you can tell how much it means to everyone. I also love the interaction when Boyle talks about what happen if something happened to Jake and it’s so incredibly kind that Jake wanted to ensure that Holt felt included in the pizza heart to heart, I love that so much. Thankfully, at the end of the ep Rosa comes back unharmed but shaken by what went down and watching everyone’s reaction to seeing her is so moving and sweet and the hug Jake gives her is so lovely, as is the hug that Rosa, Amy and Gina share at the end. I love their friendship so much.  10/10

21 White Whale – Peraltiago are getting married in a week, one week! It was so exciting to get confirmation that it’s happening so soon and hearing Jake refer to Amy as his soulmate was the most beautiful thing. As it’s Brooklyn 99, a show well known for it’s strong feminist messages and refusal to ever portray any patriarchal, sexist, antiquated views about gender roles, marriage or weddings, it’s Jake and Terry who are doing the wedding planning while Rosa and Amy are off being kick-ass and solving a case. It was so awesome to see that and it was especially brilliant that they weren’t any jokes made at anyone’s expense as it doesn’t need to be a big deal. It was sweet to see Jake and Terry doing the wedding prep together, as Jake looks up to Terry so much as a role model for how to be a good husband and it was cute that Jake cared so much about making Amy happy, down to the smallest details and never complained about the tasks. Jake’s quote about taking each other’s names and his female groom gut was so brill too. He was just generally adorable, especially when talking about their amazing wedding cookies with their faces (his phone pic from episode 10), first dance and doing an awesome Dr Seuss style rhyme. It was a shame then that he said he was worried that he’d be a bad husband as he’s already proved so many times that he’ll be an amazing husband because of how much he loves her as we know he’d do anything for her. I love the show so much for making Jake’s insecurities as far as away from toxic masculinity as they could possibly be, as he wasn’t talking about protecting Amy or being ‘strong’ for her as he was super sweet and cared about all the details for the wedding. As Terry rightly points out, the fact that Jake’s spent the whole day trying to make Amy happy proves that he’ll be an amazing husband, which he certainly will be. <3 Get yourself someone who loves you like Jake loves Amy, omg, the way he literally shouted his love for her at the top of his lungs makes my heart sing and burst with my love for them. Meanwhile, Amy and Rosa (or the Sleuth sisters as they’re now known) are working on a case from 7 years ago and go to a care home to try and solve it. Amy’s love of grammar and old people was amazing to watch and their friendship dynamic was so strong. There’s an interesting twist however, as it turns out that Amy let the suspect go the last time but Rosa is mainly upset that she lied, not that he got away. Amy jumping off the building and dislocating her knee right before her wedding felt like a real Jake move and it was cool to learn more about Rosa’s past and see their cool high five again. Gina and Boyle are trying to help Holt in his bid for commissioner in this ep and the lines about having goop in your eye and the whisper campaign were so good. I also like that Gina sends herself fanmail (very on brand for her.) It was so nice to see that there’s a lot of respect between Holt and his rival, Olivia, despite their competitive natures, humour and banter. 10/10

22 Jake and Amy – The day’s finally here and it’s time for one of the greatest and most beautiful weddings of all time. <3 As soon as it starts, you know we’re in for a treat with this one, with Boyle’s love for Jake shining through and Jake telling Amy that she’s beautiful the second he sees her, which is just so cute, the way he loves her is so lovely. <3 <3 When Amy was stressed about everything going wrong, Jake was there to comfort and reassure her and even came prepared with her allergy meds and everything that she’d need as he wanted to help support her as much as possible, which I absolutely love. <3 Unfortunately, they get a call about a bomb at the wedding venue and Boyle’s reactions about worrying that he ‘ruined Jake’s wedding’ are incredible. Amy’s boring, creepy ex T*ddy is also back sadly and even proposes to Amy again (what the hell is he doing, seriously? I wish he’d just leave them alone!) It’s nice to see the contrast with how supportive Jake is compared to what T*ddy was like, as Jake supports and reassures Amy with nicotine patches which means that she doesn’t get stressed and smoke like she did when she was with T*ddy. (He proved to be a cause of stress for her when they dated in S1/2 but since she’s been with Jake, she’s been a lot happier.) Meanwhile, Holt gets an email about whether or not he’s going to be the new commissioner and I don’t know if it was more heartwarming that he was (partly) not reading the email as he didn’t want to take the attention away from Peraltiago or that our bride and groom were so supportive and excited about finding out whether he’d got the job or not. Rosa might have found love in this ep too, as she had amazing chemistry with Alicia, the driver and they seemed to be really hitting it off. I love the line about Rosa’s laugh and it was fun to see Terry being like Boyle and shipping her with Alicia (like we all were.) Every scene is gold in this ep as the moment when Amy says that they’ll share everything when they’re married was really sweet. Sadly, after a long day, it looks like our favourite couple might not be able to get married that day after all. It was so sweet that when Ames was disappointed, Jake immediately gave her the sweetest speech to reassure her where he said that he loves her so much that he’d happily marry her anytime, anyplace, which was so adorable. <3 Boyle ends up saving the day by putting together an outdoor wedding at the precinct with beautiful lights and a shredded paper aisle (the document from 5 x 12, perhaps…) It was nice to get some callbacks to the pilot, with Jake complimenting Amy’s appearance all the time (‘you look great’) and the return of Mlepclaynos. Cheddar eating the wedding cake and Holt and Gina’s reactions were amazing too. The way Jake looks at Amy when he first sees her in her dress (which Gina was apparently going to wear) and when she walks down the aisle is so perfect and beautiful that it could melt anyone’s heart and make them believe in true love. They were married by their Dad, Captain Holt, which felt so right and the whole vows scene is so moving. <3 Their vows are so beautiful and I love that Jake’s vows reference key moments in their relationship and his Addams family rap and it’s such an awesome callback to Jake’s butt is the bomb line from earlier in the ep when Amy says it to him in her vows. The way Jake is literally overcome with love for her in that scene and says through tears of love that she’s his dream girl is just the sweetest portrayal of true love that I’ve ever seen, especially as he also says ‘I absolutely do’ instead of ‘I do’. I love that he’s always been so sure about Amy and has always been so all in and wholesome when it comes to her. 10/10    1000000/10

S6 1 Honeymoon – Such a good start to the new season, wow. Jake and Amy are married and hearing him excitedly calling her ‘my wife’ was super cute. <3 However, Holt was very disappointed to find out that he was not going to become the commissioner (I liked Jake’s celebratory dance for him when he thought he’d got the job though.) Holt decides to go for a solo trip to Mexico to try and cheer himself up (and wear some incredible, hilarious novelty shirts-I love Holt in the novelty t-shirts sooo much.) He actually ends up going to the same resort where Jake and Amy are going for their romantic, luxury honeymoon. As he’s already so down, Peraltiago kindly invite him to join them on their couples’ activities, which led to some ‘amazingly funny’ scenes as the scenes with the three of them were hilarious (although it was cute to see Jake and Amy in the pool together with the coconuts, living up to their always coconutting rule. The ‘b needs a c in her a’ line is always funny too.) Holt seems to be starting to feel a bit better until he reveals that he’s thinking of leaving the NYPD altogether. Jake tries to convince him to stay but unbeknownst to him, Ames was planning to surprise him with some ‘Die Hard’ themed roleplay- a dream come true for Jake. I love that he was so excited by her Holly Gennaro outfit but made it clear that it’s Amy that he’s attracted to and wants to be with as he doesn’t want to imagine anyone else. They tie Holt to the bed with tools from Boyle’s box of nightmares that he sent them in an attempt to try and get him to stay at the 99. When Holt disrespects Jake after he makes a sweet, heartfelt speech about how much he needs and looks up to Holt, Amy defends Jake and rightfully tells Holt off and calls him out for the way he spoke to Jake and for not letting them have alone time on their honeymoon. I love how healthy their relationship is too, that Jake stopped himself from getting angry at Holt as he didn’t think Amy would like it and that Amy has grown in confidence and can tell Holt when she disagrees with him while at the same time standing up for her soulmate (so much brill Peraltiago content in this ep.) Holt apologises and J and A stay for a bit longer to enjoy some time together on their honeymoon (I love that Jake dressed up as Amy’s fantasy for role play too and that he cares about the bees-total dream husband <3) Meanwhile, ‘top dog’ Terry is in charge at the 99 and a bit unsure about a few decisions. All the scenes with the password and security questions about god and Gina being a rascal were really good. It turns out that Gina’s mother is leaving Boyle’s Dad, which Charles finds very upsetting (Are they still going to be siblings and ex-lovers, as he puts it?) Boyle in the Gina mask was funny and it was a nice twist that Gina actually knew that her mom was cheating and didn’t want to hurt Charles or his Dad.  9.75/10

2 Hitchcock and Scully – In this ep, we got a flashback and some backstories for H and S (who were formerly considered the studs of the 99 back in the 1980s), which was kinda cool. Jake and Charles (the new studs of the 99) work on a case from the 1980s related to H and S and their fave diner. Jake doesn’t trust them at first and thinks they might have been dirty cops (and Hitchcock certainly isn’t the best or most respectful guy so you can see why Jake wouldn’t be rushing to defend him.) However, Boyle believes them and thinks that Jake’s suspicious of everyone, as he thought Boyle was being scammed when someone claiming to be Nikolaj’s brother was getting in touch. It turns out that they were both kind of right, as H and S actually did what they did to look out for the owner of the diner and while he wasn’t as young as he claimed, it really was Nikolaj’s brother who’d been in touch. Meanwhile, there’s some tension between the squad and uniformed officers, which puts Amy in an awkward situation and sparks conflict between Terry, Rosa and Amy. The scene with the reference to hoots from the last episode and the bit with the fish in the microwave always makes me laugh and I like the ‘Gina Linetti, spaghetti confetti’ scene and the scene with Gina doing the interview that Holt planned to do. The little wave Amy gives Jake when he says hi and calls Holt his Dad is so cute too. 8/10

3 The Tattler - We’re going back in time to the 90s in this ep as it’s time for Jake and Gina’s 20 year high school reunion and the return of their legendary group, the DDC (Dope denim crew), which was awesome to see. I also love that Jake takes every opportunity to call Amy his wife and that he almost always compliments her when he calls her that <3 (For instance, Jake calling Ames his ‘super smart, incredible wife’ made my heart so happy. <3) Amy, Jake and Gina head to the reunion and it turns out that their old classmates remember the time at school that everyone thought Jake told on the popular kids and stopped them cutting class and drinking and everyone thinks of him as a ‘tattler’, to his dismay. It was cute that Amy hyped him up and supported and encouraged him when he was stressed about the ‘tattler’ situation and it was awesome to see that she was VERY attracted to Jake being well behaved in school and getting a perfect attendance etc, indicating that she’d probably actively like the idea of him being a ‘tattler’. The excited ‘oh, mama’ when she’s turned on is so funny to see. Peraltiago work together to try and find out who it was and it turns out that Gina (who’s been pretending to be a famous apps creator) was the one who tattled as she didn’t want Jake to get in with the crowd that were drinking and cutting class as he always wanted to be a cop. It’s so nice that Jake’s so supportive of Gina and her app idea and hypes her up to potential investors (or who they think is a potential investor). The scene with J and G at the end was great too, especially as Andy (Jake) and Chelsea (Gina) were childhood friends irl. In typical Jake fashion, he was nothing but supportive of Gina, even if it means her leaving the 99, as he really believes in her. It was also adorable that he looked so smitten when talking and smiling about Amy writing a book report. One article mentioned how the plots of this ep were meant to feel that they could be in a family friendly, light-hearted 90s show because of the school reunion and it’s very clever if that’s the case as no violent crimes/dangerous scenarios come up in this ep. Terry, Holt and H and S are participating in a radio contest and Holt dismisses it at first as he doesn’t see the point(the lines about being productive and yogurt being Terry’s thing were so funny). They end up having fun and doing it together, though. Meanwhile, Boyle’s helping Rosa with her love life as she’s never been indecisive but now can’t decide between two people she’s been seeing. They try various techniques, including extensive quizzes and hanging from the ceiling but when they don’t work, Boyle reveals that the techniques don’t actually help Boyles make decisions as they use them to put off making decisions until the decision’s made by default. Rosa jumping down from the ceiling was a pretty cool, badass move too. 9.75/10

4 Four Movements – It’s time for Gina’s grand exit but it felt very fitting and appropriate for her character as we got to see more of her iconic dance moves and she spent some time with each of the characters to give them a last ‘GM’ (Gina moment). The title also feels appropriate as it’s the fourth ep of the season. The chess scene with Gina and Holt is really good and explores the parallels and similarities between chess and life as well as exploring their bond a bit further as it’s revealed that they actually play together regularly. Holt ‘trash talking’ and Gina naming the chess pieces was so good too. The Amy/Rosa/Gina scenes were all so strong too, as they went out for lunch together and Amy was under the impression that they thought she was very emotional compared to them, so it was super sweet that Gina revealed that she wanted Ames to be herself and be proud of who she is, which is especially nice as Gina’s often been pretty rude to her so it was so nice to see that she genuinely cares about her. On top of that, Rosa’s simple ‘bye’ speech was brilliant and it was a lovely moment when the three of them shared a hug. It was a nice callback to s3 that Amy made a book of Gina’s tweets and really shows how thoughtful she is. Meanwhile, Jake was also being super thoughtful and supportive as he wanted to give Gina a great goodbye party (the yes daddy scene is never not funny.) It was also super sweet that Gina just wanted to hang out with her 99 family and didn’t need a big party. I loved that the 99 all wanted to support and be there for Gina and her last video message and statue served as a reminder that while she may not be at the 99 anymore, she’ll never be forgotten. The applause for her felt quite fitting and it feels like Chelsea (Gina) was maybe addressing her castmates to demonstrate how much she cares about them when Gina said ‘I love you guys’. 9.5/10

5 A Tale of Two Bandits – This ep revisited the rivalry with the firefighters and Boyle’s jealousy as Doug Judy returned and the squad tried to keep Shaw’s. I liked the plot with the squad drinking at Shaw’s and trying to get as big a tab as possible to stop the firefighters making Shaw’s their regular. Holt’s lines about the drinks he likes and ‘cheers to the 99th precinct’ were really good and it was interesting to watch the squad get nostalgic now that Gina’s left as they talked about their memories of Shaw’s. It was funny to watch everyone get super drunk too and the Amy drunkenness scale was back, which was awesome, as was the idea of a drunk Rosa singing to Holt on the phone. Meanwhile, Jake and Terry attend what they think is a funeral for Doug Judy (Jake even sings and everything) until it’s revealed that Doug is very much alive and his sister, Trudy Judy, first appears in this ep. It was an interesting swap from 6 x 2 to see Jake being the one who wants to see the best in people, which perhaps fits his character better (although it makes sense for Boyle to be trusting unless he thinks they want to be Jake’s best friend.) Interestingly, Doug didn’t betray Jake this time and ended up feeling a bit like Jake has at the end of each DJ ep so far as Trudy Judy left him behind. The last scene with Terry doing the pushups was pretty funny too. 7.5/10

6 The Crime Scene – This ep centred on Rosa and Jake’s friendship, which was cool, as we got to see them working a difficult case together. Rosa’s hairstyles are incredible in this ep too and I love that she has so many throughout the ep as her girlfriend, Jocelyn, is at cosmetology school. I love that Rosa feels comfortable enough with her to let her do her hair. It worked well in this ep that it took place over a couple of months, as we got to see the changes to Jake’s mental state and how much the case was affecting him and it was a good way to show Rosa reconnecting with her mother, as it was nice to see them meeting up at the end with the implication that things will be better between them from now on.  Meanwhile, poor Jake was really struggling, as it’s been well established that he’s a very skilled detective by this point but the fact that he wasn’t solving this case took it’s toll on him. It’s very admirable how important justice is to him and it proves his dedication and decency that he he kept working so hard to solve it, not for himself but out of respect to the victim’s family. It was a nice twist that after Jake’s promise to solve it and dedication to solving it for the family, it was Rosa who got invested when the mother of the murder victim reminded her of her own mother (the same position that Jake had been in earlier.) I love the scene with the delivery guy and it's great that this episode demonstrated the strength of their friendship, with ‘Jake and Rosa’s first and final impressions’ and Rosa caring about Jake’s mental state and wellbeing. The ‘blood on the fish’ line always makes me laugh too, as does 'bilbo baggins' line and the hotdog/ketchup scene with Boyle as the body.  8.25/10

7 The Honeypot – In this ep, Amy channelled Marie Kondo to try and do some tidying and organise a disorganised precinct. All the scenes with Amy trying to get the squad to get rid of their belongings worked well and it was pretty cool to watch Rosa doing archery with a flaming arrow, even if it was a shame that they had to lose so many of their possessions. There was also quite an important scene with Amy and Terry as while we all know he loves his suspenders, it was surprisingly touching to find out the true reason why he was so attached to a particular pair, as he’d hoped to wear them when he became a lieutenant but hadn’t passed the test yet. It was nice that Amy supported Terry and encouraged him, while letting the others keep personal items and belongings again. Meanwhile, Holt has a new assistant called Gordon and all the scenes about the flirting and sexual tension between them with barrels and tie knots were so funny and I love the drum roll scene and the way that Holt called Tom Cruise ‘Thomas Cruise’ and Gordon referred to the 99 as a ‘fun office’ after Jake’s introduction. It’s always cool to see Jake and Holt going undercover together and it was cool to see that they didn’t let John Kelly, the current commissioner, win or get away with anything and it’s so smart that he’s such a chilling, sinister villain despite wanting to come off as mild-mannered and gentle. It was great to see Jake and Amy at the barrel museum together at the end too, as I love that Jake always get invested and takes an interest in her interests and Amy’s turned on ‘oh mama’ is never not funny. It was cute to hear Jake calling Holt and Kevin his Dads after learning that they’d made up and his expression when talking about the fighter jet was adorable. 9.5/10

8 He said, She said- (big shout-out to Stephanie Beatriz for directing this ep-she’s so talented!)  This was a super sad ep but it was so important and well-handled and I like that even in the saddest scenes in the show, there’s never a sense of complete hopelessness. In this ep, Jake and Amy investigate a difficult case where a banker called Seth, was hit in the privates by his co-worker, Kari, in self-defence after he tried to sexually assault her. While it isn’t the funniest episode because of the subject matter, I’m always impressed with how the writers find a way to make it entertaining and funny and feel like the show and characters that we know and love, while not taking away from the important messages. For instance, the plot with Holt, Terry, Boyle and the Disco strangler was funny (the shouting scenes were pretty good) and a nice callback to the pilot. I also loved that Kari instantly felt comfortable with Jake and could trust him and talk to him about unexpected things, like ‘Duck tales’. It was also clever how they portrayed the lengths that people have gone to to stop privileged white men from being held accountable for awful things such as sexual assault, by having Seth describe himself as an ally while his colleagues defended him and called him a ‘good guy’. As an actual good guy and genuine male feminist and ally, Jake didn’t believe Seth for one minute and worked with Amy to ensure that Kari got justice. It was interesting that Amy and Rosa disagreed on the subject, despite wanting the best for Kari and women everywhere. It was sweet that Jake was concerned for Amy when she kept working on the case and wanted to make sure that she was looking after herself too and as heartbreaking as it is, I really love the scene when Amy confides in Jake and tells him about the harassment she experienced before coming to the 99. It’s such a powerful scene and I’m in love with Jake and how he responds to what she says, as he doesn’t tell her how to feel or what to do but instead listens and holds her hand. <3 <3 He’s by far the most respectful and supportive male feminist that I’ve ever seen on TV and his reaction is so sweet and perfect. He does everything he can to make Amy feel supported and comfortable, just like he does for all women, and I absolutely love that he watched a feminism documentary because the thought of anyone facing sexism disturbed him so much that he couldn’t sleep, I mean, could he be more perfect? 9.75/10

9 The Golden Child – My favourite ep of the season! It’s so incredible! We finally get to meet one of Amy’s brothers, in the form of David, played by Lin Manuel-Miranda. It was sad to learn that Amy’s always felt second best to him and that she feels that he’s the favourite child (some Monica-Ross vibes in this ep, perhaps). It’s so wrong that Amy’s parents basically rank their children with photos of them and where they put them in their house, that’s actually so awful and really rude and hurtful. However, Amy is awesome and super smart and has the world’s most loving, supportive husband at her side to hype her up to her mother and brother at dinner, so she’ll definitely be ok. I love that Jake literally called her perfect and was so happy to talk her up at dinner, it’s so cute. Every Peraltiago scene is adorable, tbh. David is played so well by Lin and watching Amy’s frustration with his humble brags is amazing. It’s so lovely that Jake reminds Camila of all Amy’s accomplishments, as after learning about her experiences in the last ep and seeing more of her relationship with her family in this ep, it makes a lot of sense why Amy puts a lot of pressure on herself and feels that she has to prove herself and why she immediately wanted to bond with Holt. The dancing scene with Amy and David having similar moves and competing over everything is so hilarious, as is Jake’s line about ‘parts people feature’ when dancing. The possible ‘Hamilton’ references were pretty cool too and I love that Jake helped Amy up the stairs after her death drop fall and didn’t want to leave her when she fell. The relief on Amy’s face when they rescued Jake and saw that he was ok was beautiful and Jake was just the sweetest by supporting and being there for Amy the whole time (and referencing the ninja turtles) but not letting anything happen to David, even when Amy was pleased about him being arrested for drug possession. (Her reaction to thinking David was on cocaine was so funny.) The last scene when Jake went to comfort Ames after Camila was thoughtless again was so moving and heartfelt, as it was lovely that Amy cares more about Jake than being the ‘favourite child’ in her family and the way they looked at each other melted my heart. Jake’s speech to Camila about how she should respect Amy and treat her better was amazing too and makes my heart so happy, his love for her knows no bounds. Meanwhile, Boyle arranges for Holt and Terry to go undercover and I liked the ‘Annie’ reference and it was funny to see Holt’s Elvis impression and his over the top impression of a sexist ‘straight’ guy and to hear that he referred to himself as ‘nefarious’. It was cool that it ended up being Rosa who was the best actor and being the one to solve the case, after Terry became frustrated with Boyle. 10/10

10 Gintars – This ep introduced us to Gintars, the biological father of Boyle’s adopted son, Nikolaj. I liked that Jake was so supportive of Charles when Niko spent time with his birth father as it’s such a good message that family isn’t just blood/DNA. Also, while Jake was wrong for what he did to Gintars, he absolutely had good intentions and his heart was in the right place as it just proved that he’d do anything for Charles and is just as invested in their friendship, as he just wanted to help him out and only did what he did because Charles was SO miserable about the situation with Gintars and Niko and he just wanted to make him feel better. (the sauna scene with Jake and Gintars was a bit reminiscent of the Old school ep too, I thought.) The fact that Jake listened to Charles and apologised proves what a good friend he is too as he’s open to making it right and can admit when he’s in the wrong, which makes him a brilliant character. I really liked the best buds hats scene too and Boyle’s speech about being there for Niko, along with Jake saying he’s Niko’s real Dad, was a nice, respectful way to deal with the complexities of adoption and it was a good message. Meanwhile, the Holt, Amy, Rosa and Terry plot was so good and funny, as Dr Yee from season five returned (I bet Pimento would been excited to meet him if he’d been there…) However, Rosa and Terry discover that he’s not been completely truthful about the flies that he claims can detect blood but Amy and Holt are such massive fans of Dr Yee that they don’t want to hear it. (Their fist bump and simultaneous laugh was so amazing, as was their reaction to Dr Yee.) Terry was having some issues with bugs and ended up shaving off practically all the hair on his face, which led to some very funny scenes and quotes (eg ‘the only thing that’s a little much are your scrawled on eyebrows’- Holt). Rosa ends up solving the case and Amy and Holt apologise for not believing Rosa and Terry, but not before calling Dr Yee one last time. Rosa’s line about him being sad about being a fraud is pretty funny too. 8/10

11- The Therapist- This ep centred on Jake’s attitudes towards therapy and reluctance to go to any kind of therapy and you can certainly see why he might be able to benefit from it after everything the poor guy has had to go through and endure since the series started (to name just a few- His Dad leaving him and his mother, being wrongfully arrested and repeatedly beaten up and physically hurt, coming close to death, getting shot, almost being killed and tortured. There’s no doubt about it, he’s definitely had a difficult time of it.) His friendship with Boyle is also explored in this ep and I like how they directly referenced Boyle being inappropriately sexual without realising it and the yarn scene is so sweet and so far away from anything even resembling the tiniest trace of toxic or fragile masculinity and I love it so much for that. It's also super important that Jake talked about how people with mental health issues are more likely to be the victims than the perpetrators in violent crimes as it's so important to move away from the harmful stereotype of people with mental health issues being violent killers. In fact, Jake goes through a lot in this ep alone, as the therapist tries to kill him (and also kind of gives him a session) and explores his distrust of therapists, which goes back to his childhood. The scene with Jake doing impressions has some funny moments and the bit about texting without looking at his phone was pretty cool and I like that Jake was genuinely considering going to therapy by the end of the ep. Meanwhile, Terry doesn’t want anyone to think that the sex book that arrived was for him, which led to him getting more embarrassed when Amy asked him about it, especially when he rang Sharon to talk about their sex life and their daughters overheard him on speaker phone. It was nice to get confirmation that Scully’s still with Cindy from Cop Con and the scenes with him and Terry were good. I really like the scenes with Rosa and Holt in this ep as he thought he was finally meeting Rosa’s girlfriend, Jocelyn, as everyone else has met her, but it turns out that she hired an actress to pretend to be Jocelyn as she cares a lot about what Holt thinks and wanted him to like her. The scene when he finally met the real Jocelyn was sweet and it’s nice to think about Rosa and Jocelyn having dinner with Holt and Kevin and shows real development from S2, when Rosa and Holt didn’t want to have double dates or mix their work and personal lives at all. 7.75/10

12- Casecation – ‘Casecation, all I ever wanted’- I love it when Amy joins in and starts singing Jake’s casecation song in the cold open and that Terry and Rosa come in for a chorus of it later as well. This is probably the most divisive ep in the series and while I understand why that is, there’s a lot more that I like about it than dislike. For instance, I really love that Jake just wanted to spend time with Amy and the cold open provided us with some adorable quotes, such as Jake saying that he loves how her brain works and that he’d built up his reputation since S1 just for this moment (aka to hang out with Ames, which was super cute.) The moment when they exchange some of their favourite moments of their first year of marriage was so sweet too and the socks scene always melts my heart, it’s beyond adorable. There are some out of character moments, perhaps, such as Amy thanking Rosa when she mentions ‘bullying’ Jake and Amy’s ‘start over’ line and those parts kinda break my heart, especially when I think about how much that would hurt Jake, who’s been such a loving, sweet, supportive partner to Amy for years. I also felt so bad for Jake with how he was treated in this ep generally as I think he was treated extremely unfairly by almost everyone, to some extent and while I don’t think that Amy wanted to hurt him, I do wish that she'd treated him with compassion/understanding when he was willing to see her side of it. Also, I don’t think that that much of the episode is very out of character for them, as I don’t think Amy’s ever said that she didn’t want kids and it makes sense for her character that she does and while Jake’s mentioned having kids, I think he meant it more as an abstract idea when considering his future and maybe the idea of it happening soon combined with his memories of his own bad Dad and the realisation of the struggles of balancing work and parenting and how much parents shape their kids maybe freaked him out a bit, as he never said that he’d never want kids and was always open to changing his mind. The fact that he suggested talking about it lovingly really stood out to me too as the fact that that was his response is such a green flag and a lovely representation of how sweet and loving he is. The debate scene has some good moments but it makes me so sad to see them laughing at Jake or making him feel out of his depth and I felt that that was unfair and that he really deserved a break and a hug and some kindness/compassion in this episode, as he went along with the debate for Amy and as he said himself, he spoke from his heart and was vulnerable and was a lot more mature than he gets credit for in this ep. It’s super sweet when he talks about being sure about marrying Amy though. <3 Andy’s acting in the bomb scene is outstanding and even if not everything about this ep was well-received, it can’t be denied that the marriage countdown scene and the final scene with Jake and Amy (when they hug) is so sweet and heartwarming. I understand if people think it was unrealistic for Jake to say he wants kids at the end but I don’t think he was ever opposed to the idea, he was just scared and wanted to make sure they were doing it for the right reasons and could be there for their kid/s (which proves that he’ll make a brilliant Dad.) Also, he maybe had a realisation that he wouldn’t be doing it alone as with every scary, life-threatening situation he’s been in, he’s had Amy by his side and if they can get through everything that they’ve been through, they can handle being parents, if they do it together. I also love that he said he’d never been more in love with her (this is really saying something as he was crying with his love for her at their wedding) and that he wanted kids ‘with her’, as it solidifies how much Amy means to him and how important she is to him, rather than just wanting marriage or kids for the sake of it or because you feel obligated/expected to do it. The line about the water park is super cute too and I love that their relationship always remains healthy, with Ames saying that they’ll try when they’re both ready. 9.5/10

13 The Bimbo - Such an underrated episode! The cold open with the high fives was so good even though I felt kinda bad for Jake that he was the only one who didn’t get one. There were also some great scenes with Jake and his Dads, Holt and Kevin, as Jake came to the university where Kevin teaches to look into a robbery and it’s revealed that the other academics and professors look down on Holt and consider him to be less educated. The flashbacks to Holt at the Christmas party were so good and there’s something almost comforting about this ep as if someone as articulate, educated and intelligent as Holt can be underestimated or made to feel like he’s not as smart, then it can happen to anyone and it proves that while no one can know everything, you don’t necessarily need to feel insecure about your own intelligence just because someone’s looking down on you. (It was like with Amy in The golden child as while I was annoyed at her parents and David for making Amy feel like she’d always come in ‘second place’ to David, if someone as skilled, competent and smart as Amy feels like there’s someone who’s better than her at things, then maybe it means that you’re not as bad as you tell yourself you are at your lowest.) Holt had some amazing lines in this ep, such as ‘I’ve decided to stop fighting it and lean into the fact that I’m an idiot’ and the scene when he was calling the crossword app a video game was iconic. I also love that Jake’s learning Spanish for Amy, that’s such a sweet, thoughtful gesture and it made me extra sad that Amy’s family are unkind to him when he’s always been such a loving, devoted partner to Amy. The Harry Potter references were so good too, especially as Jake read the HP books for Amy. Kevin’s speech about how smart and awesome Holt is really warms my heart and reminds me of Jake’s speech to Camila in 6,9 and really shows how great and strong their marriage is, especially as there was even some PDA involved(handshaking). Holt and Kevin are totally goals. <3 Meanwhile, at the precinct, Amy and Terry are competing over extravagant lunch plans in an attempt to raise morale, with their plans getting more over the top all the time. It was nice to see Gary again (Amy’s officer who was a lot like her) and the parallel with how he was more upset about getting shot with a paintball gun than Jake was about getting shot with a real gun was pretty funny and I love that Peraltiago’s relationship has always remained so healthy and it's really quite interesting that Jake still completely adores Amy even after being punched and shot by her. The ‘lunch a bunch’ catchphrase was cool too and it was nice that they ended up coming up together to genuinely raise morale in a safe, friendly way. It was cool to see Gina’s statue again too as it’s a reminder that she’ll always be a part of the 99 family.  (This ep was also directed by Joe Lo Truglio.) 9.25/10

14 Ticking Clocks - This ep’s really cool and underrated. It plays out in real time, with the oven timer on Hitchcock and Scully’s lasagne and garlic bread representing the running time for the episode and a countdown clock, it’s really clever. They think there’s a hacker trying to access the computer and Jake and Rosa work together to try and see what’s going on. Meanwhile, a sorority’s just come into holding and have started dishing out some creative insults, which Terry is not pleased about (the part when he grows concerned about his chin and asks Charles about it always makes me laugh.) Rosa tells Jake that she’s been having relationship problems as Jocelyn thinks that she prioritises her job over their relationship. Jake is his usual supportive self and despite Rosa’s initial reaction to get angry at Jocelyn when she suggests breaking up, she reveals that she does really love Jocelyn and wants to be with her. (The ‘ladies be prepping’ line doesn’t really sound like something Jake would say but I like that he respects Rosa’s private nature and it makes sense that he’d presume that she wouldn’t like people talking about her personal life.) Amy’s actually at the dentist but quickly rushes to the 99 and even slides off a car because of her fomow (fear of missing out on work). It was super cute to see Jake and Amy calling each other and saying ‘I love you’ and I love that Jake held up the phone the whole time so that Amy could see what was happening via video call as he knew she wouldn’t want to miss it and it’s adorable when he takes her dental bib off. Boyle’s references to ‘The Hunger games’ were so good and I love it when he calls Jake his ‘computer boy’. Rosa’s line about thinking it was ‘weak and humiliating’ to love someone was interesting, as it maybe implies that she doesn’t have as much confidence in herself as she appears, as she’s the only one who might doubt that she’s a badass. I also like that with Holt and Kevin and Peraltiago, especially when Jake was in prison, the show demonstrated that it couldn’t be further from the truth to say that loving someone makes you weak as Jake’s love for Amy is such a powerful, strong force and practically saved his life and makes him feel better about everything and can get him through anything. Jake’s reaction to finding out that Rosa and Jocelyn made up was cute too and it was funny to see how intense H and S got about their lasagne, I loved their calls to Holt and Jakey and the ‘I love you’ was sweet.   8.75/10

15 Return of the king – This ep saw the return of Gina, who’s now a super famous internet star and icon as her G-Hive has subscribers from all over the world. Her warm up vocal exercises, Moses outfit and ‘memeoir’ (a memoir consisting of memes) were all amazing and the inspirational baker bit always makes me laugh. She recruits the help of Terry and Jake after receiving death threats and they’re excited to see her but Jake’s a bit hurt when she doesn’t show up for the drinks they’d planned to have together. It’s heartwarming that even when they disagree, they still look out for each other as it shows what great friends they are. For instance, I love that Jake wanted to put their argument on hold to make sure Gina’s ok when she gets hurt, it’s super sweet and I also liked that Gina was willing to continue their argument and listen even after being stabbed as it shows how much they’ve both grown and how much they value their friendship. It also proves what an ally Jake is that he’s super proud of Gina for her success and is happy for her and super supportive (as well as being a Carly Rae Jepsen fan which is yet another reason to stan him.) It was also nice that Jake and Gina arranged for Terry to make up with his old friend, Brian, and their movie idea sounds really cool. Meanwhile, Rosa’s hands are bandaged up but she refuses any help (that was a bit of a mood). Amy tries to convince her that it’s ok to ask for help but ends up being inspired by Rosa’s resilience and cheers her on when she opens the door with her chin. I love that it proved how strong Rosa is but also that everyone needs help sometimes as Amy offered to help her in the bathroom. Holt takes an interest in Boyle’s son Niko, when he thinks the boy’s a genius (I loved Boyle’s stern ‘I love you’ to reprimand Niko.) However, it turns out that Niko may not be the genius that Holt thought he was but is still very intelligent and creative and it was really sweet that Holt reassured Boyle that he’s a good Dad and that he knows what’s best for Niko and that he wished he’d had support like that when he was young. Boyle’s line about Susan Boyle and being Holt’s big daddy are super funny too. (A big shout-out to the talented Melissa Fumero who directed this ep as well.)  9/10

16 Cinco de mayo – It’s time for another heist but on a different date this time. While it’s not my favourite heist as it would be almost impossible to follow the perfect series 5 heist, it’s still a really good episode. It was nice to see Kevin taking part this time and as the heists are always so full of twists and turns, it was a cool twist that after acting as if he wasn’t keen on heisting, Kevin turned out to be as competitive as anyone. It’s always amazing to see Cheddar too and all the quotes about his toys and being notified ‘via bark’ are so wonderful. I love the part when Jake and Amy high five and he mouths that he loves her, it’s so cute. <3 <3 It was perhaps quite unfair and a shame that Holt and Amy decided to tell Jake that Amy was pregnant when she wasn’t but I really like that Amy didn’t want to play with his feelings or lie to him and Jake’s reaction to thinking he was going to be a Dad was so sweet, he’d be the BEST and cutest Dad ever. <3 <3 The scenes with Scully and his twin brother, Earl, were pretty funny and Jake and Terry had some great scenes, as did Rosa and Charles and Amy and Holt. The line about the Ratatouille situation with Amy taking Terry’s test for him was great too, especially as she seemed quite willing and ready to do it! In true heist fashion, there were plenty of interesting twists, as it turns out that even though the reason they’d planned to do that heist that day was to take Terry’s mind off his upcoming exam to become a lieutenant, it turns out that he’d already taken the test and passed and he ends up winning the whole heist and becoming the newest champ! It was so cute to see Peraltiago linking arms at Shaw’s at the end too. 8.25/10

17 Sicko – This ep saw the return of Caleb, Jake’s ex-cellmate and friend who just happens to be a cannibal. It’s actually quite touching to see how well they get on as he asked about Amy. Jealous Charles is always funny too and I love the part when Jake tells him ‘no need to flex’ and when Boyle immediately tells Caleb that he’s Jake’s best friend. It’s also funny that even though Boyle was ok with the knee in the fryer with his food truck, he seemed shocked when Caleb talked about being a cannibal. Petty Holt is always super hilarious too and the part when he’s ‘Bridget Jonesing’ and eating ice cream (the saddest food known to mankind) and sending the gifs to Jake was awesome and the sex tape references were funny too. Meanwhile, Terry’s a lieutenant and is going to be transferred to the 122 (his chant was super funny.) There were some great scenes with him and the sleuth sisters, as Rosa talking about Ellen was great and Amy getting excited about firing people was unexpected and highly entertaining. The ending with the suicide squad entering the precinct was pretty cool too. 8.75/10

18 Suicide Squad -  This might not be my favourite finale but it’s still a wonderful episode with so many smart, funny, great lines. It was so cute to hear Jake calling Ames an ace detective and although it would have been nice to see their kiss, I’m glad they referenced the lack of kissing this season and confirmed that they’d kissed. <3 Terry is super funny in this ep when he’s talking about ‘being in denial’ but not being in denial about being in denial and Holt and Wuntch’s iconic rivalry and insults return in a hilarious way. The dance scene with them was great and there were so many cool twists and turns. The bit about the Michelle Obama incident was hysterical and I lose it when CJ thinks he’s in charge of the meeting and starts shouting dismissed. The way that Amy, Jake and Charles look at CJ when he doesn’t realise they’re only pretending to kidnap him is funny too, as is the line about the sex shop masks. The Vulture’s still the worst as always, though, sadly. Boyle’s lines about ‘Chicago’ and his aunt’s flower shop were great and I love that Jake and Charles both agree that Keaton is the coolest in ‘First wives club’, this show is the BEST for healthy masculinity and has never heard of anything even resembling toxic masculinity. All seems to be lost when Wuntch reveals that she’s been working with John Kelly and the 99 are almost arrested. However, it turns out that it was all part of Jake’s clever plan as he knew that Holt and Wuntch would never trust each other and so made it look like Madeleine was working with Kelly so that she could secretly be a part of their mission. Wuntch then becomes the new acting commissioner and while it seems that she and Holt are getting on surprisingly well, there’s another twist as Holt mentioned earlier that he’d not done his full time as a uniformed officer before becoming a detective and so Wuntch demotes him to be an officer to complete his training, meaning that Amy will be his boss! The ‘proud daddy’ moment was amazing as was the last scene at the bar with Terry thinking he’s leaving and everyone (apart from Boyle, hilariously) claims to be in denial for him.) 9.75/10
